What You Need To Get Started:

1.      A computer loaded with the Windows 2000 operating system.

2.      Port: Universal Serial Bus (USB).

3.      A Ricochet wireless modem with Internet access.

Note: This installation is used to manually install the Ricochet Modem Driver and Dial Up Networking.

1.      Download the 2000USB Driver file.
 
Get the Windows 2000 Driver file.
 

2.      Double Click on the 2000USB.exe that you downloaded. It will expand 4 files. Now double click on the USBFILES.bat that was expanded.

Installation:

Shut down the computer plug the USB cable into the Ricochet Modem and then into the USB port on the PC and then turn the Modem on. Turn the computer back on.

After the computer has rebooted you will see a screen that looks like this:

Click on yes.

Click on Start>Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager.

 

Under the modem branch you will see:

 

Right click on the Ricochet Wireless (USB) and click on properties:

 

Click on the Modem tab:

 

Make sure to uncheck "Wait for dial tone before dialing"

Click OK. Then click okay to exit Device Manager. Close all windows Except Control Panel

In Control Panel, Click on "Network and Dial-up Connections"

Double Click on Make New Connection:

You will now see this window:

click on next:

 

 

Select Dial-up Internet, then Click Next:

 

Select the third option down: "I want to setup my Internet connection manually…"

Then click Next:

 

Click on "I connect through a phone line and modem" then click Next:

 

Select Ricochet Wireless (USB) and click Next:

(Note: you will not see the above window if you only have the Ricochet modem installed.)

 

Type 3333 and uncheck "Use area code and dialing rules" Click Next:

 

 

 Type in your Username and password provided to you from your ISP and Click Next:

 

Type WWC for the Connection name: and hit Next:

Click No to setup your mail. Then click finish on the next screen.

 

You should be back on Network and Dial-up connections:

Right click on WWC and click properties and you will see this window:

(Note: your screen may look different depending on how many modems you have installed.)

 

Click on Options and setup as shown below:

 

Once those settings are in place click on Networking and setup as shown below:

Once completed click OK and you are ready to connect!
