Removing and Re-installing EnterNet 100 (PPPoE) ** You will need the appropriate Windows 95/98/NT/2000 CD or cab files ** You will also need the MindSpring Max CD or a downloaded copy of EnterNet 100 ** DISABLE ANY ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE BEFORE INSTALLING ** ***Windows 95/98/NT/2000*** 1 Dis-connect from the Internet and close the Enternet 100 software. (right-click on the EnterNet system tray icon and select Exit from the pop-up menu). 2 Go to Add/Remove programs. 3 Un-install the entry called "MindSpring Max DSL" or "EnterNet 100". (the name that's listed will depend on whether they installed from the CD or a downloaded copy). 4 You may get a warning about removing shared files, it's ok to say yes if you intend to re-install EnterNet 100. 5 Restart the computer when prompted. CD Install: (the version of EnterNet 100 on the CD will not work with Windows 2000, the download version will) 1 Insert the MindSpring Max CD and close the autorun install screen. 2 Click on Start --> Run --> Browse. 3 Navigate to the PPPoE folder on the MindSpring Max CD and double-click the Setup.exe file. 4 "Welcome to the MindSpring Max Setup program", click Next. 5 "Software License Agreement", click Next 6 "Choose Destination Location", the default of C:\Program Files\DSL\MindSpring Max DSL is fine, click Next. (files will copied from both the MindSpring CD and the Windows CD) 7 Restart the computer when prompted. NT and 2000 will not prompt, but a restart is still required. Download Install: 1 Click on Start --> Run --> Browse. 2 Navigate to the drive and folder where the zip file was extracted. 3 Double-click the Setup.exe file. 4 "Welcome to the EnterNet 100 Setup program", click Next. 5 "Software License Agreement", click Next 6 "Choose Destination Location", the default of C:\Program Files\NTS\EnterNet 100 is fine, click Next. (files will copied from both the download location and the Windows CD) 7 Restart the computer when prompted. NT and 2000 will not prompt, but a restart is still required. Creating a Profile: 1 Double-click the MindSpring Max or EnterNet 100 icon on the desktop. 2 Double-click "Create New Profile". 3 "Connection Name" Enter a name for the connection (i.e. MindSpring or EarthLink), click Next. 4 "User Name and Password" Enter the login name (i.e. joeuser@mindspring.com). Enter the password and confirm it. Click Next. 5 A "Devices" screen will appear if more than one NIC is installed. Select the appropriate NIC Adapter as the device to use. If only one NIC is installed, the customer will not see this screen. Click Next. 6 "You have successfully created a new connection profile", click Finish. 7 To connect, just double-click the new profile and click Connect. Connection Messages: •Beginning Negotiation--Initial contact made with remote server. Negotiating for authentication. •Authenticating--Authentication successfully taking place. •Receiving Network Parameters--Negotiating network configuration parameters. •Updating Network Parameters--IP addresses received from server and passed on to TCP/IP stack bound to EnterNet adapter. The Systray Icon: After connecting, a double monitor icon will appear in the systray that looks nearly identical to a DUN status icon. These monitors will blink when transmitting and/or receiving. Double clicking this will give detailed connection stats.
